The challenge

Upwardspirale teaches personal transformation through colour therapy, meditation and spiritual development, delivered as a structured curriculum rather than a single offering. That structure is the value — and it is also the problem.

A newcomer landing on a page listing Level 1, Level 2, online courses and other courses has no way to tell where they belong. Faced with that, most people pick nothing.

What I built

The site opens by establishing what the practice is before asking anyone to choose, framing the invitation as taking the next step on a spiritual journey and following it with an introduction to the practice and its philosophy. Someone unfamiliar with colour theory gets context before they are shown a curriculum.

A courses overview then sits between the introduction and the individual levels, acting as the map. Rather than dropping visitors straight into a list of levels, it explains the arc — awaken, expand, transform — so each level has a visible place in a progression and a newcomer can locate themselves in it.

Only after that do the individual course pages appear, with Level 1, Level 2, online and other courses each given their own space. Visitors arriving with prior knowledge can still jump directly to the level they want from the navigation, so the guided path never becomes an obstacle for a returning student.

Separating online delivery from in-person courses matters more here than it looks. The two have different commitments — cost, travel, scheduling — and a visitor who cannot tell which format they are reading about will not book either. Giving each its own page lets the practical details sit alongside the course content instead of being buried in a shared FAQ.

Outcome

The curriculum reads as a journey with an obvious entry point rather than a menu of options, which is what lets a first-time visitor commit to a specific course.
